Learning languages can be challenging, especially when students are beginning to learn to read and write in English. It may seem like learning a second language is impossible, but children are highly receptive and capable of learning multiple languages at this age. In fact, after the age of 10 years old is when it becomes difficult to learn a second language. Therefore, if we can get our students learning a second language at an early age, they are much more likely to become highly competent in the language. Their ability to speak, read, or write in English will not be negatively effected. Instead, their comprehension of both languages is likely to increase. Don't be afraid of a second language! It's not a threat; it is an asset. 💪
