My Teaching Philosophy

So you have made it this far, and perhaps, you're thinking "okay I get it, it's important for my child to learn a second (or third or fourth, go you!) language, but how are you going to accomplish this?"
That's a fair question, so I want to let you know the role I'll be playing to ensure your child's success in Spanish. A couple things are important to remember in language learning, so let's talk about them.
First, your child will not be fluent by the end of the school of the year. Please don't expect this because it's unrealistic. I see your child twice a week for 30 minutes. It takes a lot more exposure to achieve fluency. Let's make an attainable goal for your child by looking at the ACTFL levels of proficiency. ⬇️

Some of your children will start off at different points, and that is totally okay! My goal is to get them up one level by the end of the school year. So if Billy starts off the year only knowing a couple words in Spanish, by the end of year, he should be able to use a couple phrases! We're going to achieve this by having fun while learning and ensuring that students feel encouraged to keep going. It's all about progress, not perfection.
